FBA OFFICIAL STATEMENT

The Fiber Broadband Association (FBA) applauds the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s approval of the first 18 Final Proposals under the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program.

 

"As more states finalize their plans and begin deploying funds, FBA looks forward to continuing our work with federal and state partners to ensure these investments result in fast, reliable, fiber broadband networks that will meet America’s connectivity needs for generations to come. FBA congratulates the 18 states and territories approved today and commends NTIA for its commitment to reviewing and approving Final Proposals on an expedited timeline. With 53 of 56 entities now with final NTIA BEAD proposal submitted, we look forward to seeing more NTIA approvals in the coming weeks.” - Gary Bolton, FBA President and CEO

Leading a Transformation: Brightspeed’s First Six Months Under New Leadership

 

This week’s Fiber for Breakfast episode, featured Michel Combes, CEO of Brightspeed, who joined Gary Bolton for a candid conversation about his career, why he came out of retirement to run the company and how he’s steering Brightspeed into its next chapter. Combes has spent more than four decades in global telecom, leading major operators and vendors around the world. He first became involved with Brightspeed as an investor while he was still at SoftBank and continued to watch the company closely. When Apollo Global Management, Brightspeed’s parent company/owner, later approached him to take over as CEO, he said the decision was easier than expected—he believed the company had the right assets, the right footprint, and the right potential.
